Physician Wisdom

According to wikipedia the definitive form for a physician is the one who heals soul. In fact, the centuries old medicinal man was the wise man of the clan. He used to be knowledgeable man who understood the  history of a case and diagnosed the root cause of the flare up of disease. Even today s’ medicine believes that most and many of our diseases are psychosomatic. Precisely, he used to be a “physician of soul.” Many a times, I thought why people call them “Hakeem” ( a physician or one who heals) a Persian or Arabic derivative of a  healer.) The genesis of the word exhibits “Hikmat” or wisdom that heals. Precisely, Hakeem means the person who practices hikmat. The nearest equivalent to physician could be Hakeem. Now hikmat means wisdom, knowledge, sagacity, known to the sages, fore tellers or the prophets of those ages. the authors of vedas call it “vid” or vidia. Even in Latin language it is called “Vid’ to know or wisdom or to see. The very word Vedas means that contains knowledge or wisdom.

There is special chapter in the Bible( Proverbs 8) that speaks and tell about the creative godhead of wisdom that puts wisdom to the same pedestal as the God Himself is. Precisely, the other name of Godhead is wisdom. The intelligent design.

It is unfortunate that the medicinal science of the day does not cure the causes but the effects of the diseases. This type of medical knowledge is more preventive than to be curative. This is where we fail miserably. Wisdom and knowledge to treat the physiognomy is side tracked. Attain knowledge and live is a great slogan.
